Derick Latibeaudiere, Governor of the Bank of Jamaica, brings twenty five years of experience in Central Banking to the JDIC Board. He is the holder of a Masters in Economics from the University of the West Indies and has participated in a number of advanced courses in central banking studies and in management, at the IMF Institute, the Federal Reserve Bank in New York, the Bank for International Settlements in Switzerland and at Oxford University.

Mr. Latibeaudiere joined the Bank of Jamaica in 1975 as an Economist and rose through the ranks to become the first staff member to be appointed as Governor in 1996. He has been involved in the design and implementation of financial programmes since 1983 and has vast experience with debt rescheduling, foreign exchange systems and structural adjustment programmes.

During a three-year secondment to the Caribbean Development Bank as Country Economist, Mr. Latibeaudiere developed a sound knowledge of Caribbean economies, having visited and assisted in the design of programmes for virtually all territories.

Mr. Latibeaudiere is currently the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Jamaica, as well as the Financial Regulatory Council, the body responsible for coordinating the regulation of the overall financial system.

In 1997 Mr. Latibeaudiere was awarded the Carlton Alexander Award for Excellence by his alma mater, Jamaica College, and on August 6, 2002 he received the country's fourth highest national award, the Order of Jamaica, for his services to central banking and finance.
